How to Re-Join CNG

So you’d like to return to CNG, after not being CNG certified for a while? That’s great!

To make it official, all the key CNG program requirements need to be completed. In particular:

Get Started: Submit a new application for certification here.

1. Sign and return this year’s Declaration. With livestock certification a Livestock Feed Form is also required. For folks re-joining in December, it’s required to sign the Declaration for the following calendar year.

2. Pay the annual certification dues

You may do this using one of these options:

We recommend $250 or more per year, but members have the option to pay less. If your certification was suspended because of non-payment of dues, we strongly recommend and request that you subscribe to one of our recurring monthly payment plans with a credit card, preferably at the  $20 or $25/month level. Farmers who wish to pay less than $150 should apply for a waiver, which would grant them support from the Grassroots Fund. Waivers are intended for beginning farmers and those facing unusual hardship.

An exception is granted for beekeepers, who must pay some amount, but to accommodate hobbyists, we don’t require a waiver for lower amounts.

If you are re-joining CNG after November 1 then your dues will be paid through all of the next calendar year. (Dues are paid on a calendar basis and are renewed in February.)

3. Arrange your peer-review Inspection.

Find certification forms and guidelines here. Find a CNG farmer-inspector by using our searchable map

The requirement that you conduct an inspection of another CNG farm or apiary in your area should be completed as soon as possible (unless there’s no other CNG farmer within an hour’s drive). It is not necessary to inspect another farm/apiary before your certification is re-instated.

Once the above core requirements are completed, your certification will be re-instated and you’ll be eligible to use the colorful CNG marketing materials.
