No formal degree training. I have attended on farm seminars offered by PASA (PA Sustainable Agriculture). I have Ten years experience as a CNG Farmer
Please briefly describe your experience with mentoring, training, or advising other farmers, if any.
I have done CNG inspections over the last six years, including two remote inspections. I am also a board member of the Indiana County Farmer's Market and have advised younger farmers at the market over the past 15 years.
What aspect of your farming operation are you most proud of? *
I am Integrating the management of a semi natural environment with rows of vegetable crops. This means cover crops or natural vegetation between rows to create habitat for predators and keep my fields in living cover year round. Also, finally figuring out how to keep the rabbits and groundhogs out.
What aspect of your farming operation are you most known for? (This could be a particular crop beloved by customers or an uncommon production method that other farmers would appreciate.) *
I am known most for my heirloom garlic (descended from stock my great uncle brought from Abruzzo in 1912.
What do you appreciate about Certified Naturally Grown?
I appreciate the interaction and advice I get from the folks at CNG as well as from peer inspectors. I also feel that the certification is a strong way to demonstrate my commitment to organic farming methods and my customers do notice and appreciate that.

I have 45 years experience as a teacher and mentor to young musicians. This includes 30 years of University level teaching. The role of mentoring is not new to me.
