(Allowances are made for individual animals treated for health reasons. They should be specified below in the section on quarantined animals.) *
Our cattle are all 4 way cross (Scottish highland, shorthorn, jersey and hereford)We have 11 right now just before calving season.
I affirm that all livestock on my operation are raised according to Certified Naturally Grown standards, and are specified here on this application. Any feed we buy is from Shurgain and is supplemented half and half with our own grains. As to the feed supplier declaration...no one can guarantee no GMO,fertilizers or pesticides etc in this day and age which is why we are going to all on farm production by fall if not sooner. We have on had about 12 to 15 tons of our own grains in stock now and are building our feed storage and processing facilities as we speak.
Do you buy in some feed? *
no
Describe your primary livestock pest problems AND methods of control. Do not answer "none". You MUST indicate either actual pest challenges and/or LIKELY challenges, and you must ALSO indicate how you manage (or would manage) them. If you indicate a product, also specify how often it's used. *
Our cattle are not treated with anything for parasite control nor fed any off farm feed, they are pasture and hay fed only and have been for 20 years or more. All our cattle are descendants from 2 shorthorn/jersey cross cows we purchased many years ago and have cross bred these two cows and their offspring with Highland and Hereford sires ever since.
Describe your primary livestock disease problems AND methods of control. Do not answer "none". You MUST indicate either actual disease challenges and/or LIKELY challenges, and you must ALSO indicate how you manage (or would manage) them. I cannot remember the last time we had any disease issues on this farm really! We practice prevention, and careful breeding.

For example: To the north and east, a wooded area of at least 100 yards separates us from the neighbor's corn fields, to the south is a fallow field at least 100 yards deep separating us from a blueberry farm, and to the west about 60 feet separates our crops from a field where conventional corn and soybeans are grown. *
We are an isolated farm on a rural road which is mostly residential or hobby or horse farms the local road does border our farm on three sides. We farm most of the land within one mile of our farm.

I will not label, or in any way lead consumers to believe that livestock not raised in accord with CNG standards is Certified Naturally GrownTM. *
I understand that I have to complete at least one (and hopefully more) Certification Inspection(s) of another ranch or farm in my area each year, and that the inspection will NOT be of the same rancher or farmer that inspected me. *
I have reviewed the Certified Naturally Grown livestock certification standards, I understand them, and I will abide by them. I understand that if I have any questions I may contact CNG for clarification. *
